From Journaling to Writing a Book

I’ve been a little quiet around here for a while… but for good reason. On December 4th, I published my first book.

And it’s not just any book — it brings together almost everything I’ve been sharing here since I started this account seven years ago.

For those who love symbolism, yes — this has very much felt like a full seven-year cycle. Looking back, it’s almost surreal to think of everything that unfolded during that time: traveling the world for 15 months with my newlywed husband, shifting my career into life coaching, navigating the grief of losing my mom to cancer, becoming a mother of two, growing professionally — and eventually writing a book about so much of it.

I’ve always loved journaling (and did so consistently for most of my life), as well as reading books, so I knew it was only a matter of time before I either started a blog or wrote a book. The first happened during our journey around the world seven years ago. The second happened this month.

Seven years after I began blogging about our travels — starting with nothing more than a one-way ticket to India — and sharing reflections here on Medium in my main areas of interest — personal development, wellness, and healing — I finally launched my first book. It’s called Food for the Soul: A Couple’s Inner and Outer Journey Toward Living Fully, and it brings all of these elements together.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can find it by searching “Jessica Iachia” on any Amazon platform, or via the Amazon Spain link here.

So let me tell you a little more about the book and why I decided to write it.

Food for the Soul is a transformational travel memoir that recounts the 15-month journey my husband and I took around the world. It’s not just about the places we visited, but about the internal shifts that happened along the way. The book explores themes such as grief, purpose, relationships, spirituality, courage, and what it truly means to live intentionally.

I chose to write a memoir rather than a traditional personal development book because I wanted the insights to come through lived experience, not instructions. My hope is that readers feel inspired — not told what to do — and find clarity for their own path through our story.

If you feel called to support this work, the most meaningful way you can help is by reading it, sharing your thoughts, and spreading the word. As a new author, this truly makes a difference — it helps the book reach new readers and new communities.

Can I count on you?
